Union Minister for Women, Youth, and Children Affairs Naw Susanna Hla Hla Soe has disclosed that Myanmarโs military junta has been responsible for more than 150 cases of sexual violence against women and girls since the onset of the Spring Revolution. The statement was made in a public video message on November 25, marking the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women.
โNearly four years have passed since the Spring Revolution began. During this period, the Military Council has committed more than 150 cases of sexual violence against women and girls. We have systematically documented these cases and submitted them to the United Nations for necessary actions. These crimes by the junta cannot be overlooked,โ she asserted.
The Union Minister also highlighted efforts to ensure accountability for all acts of violence, including those committed within resistance groups or between civilians. She stressed the importance of addressing such incidents to uphold justice.
Additionally, she called on the public to participate in the Facebook profile frame campaign, an initiative aimed at raising awareness and advocating or an end to violence against women through collective action.โฉ
