Briefing in Relation to the Military Coup Updated 1 March 2023.

After the military coup in the country, the military council arrested those who participated in the coup in various ways, and after the arrests, up to 1064 people died in the hands of the military council stated the AAPP, the Association for the Support of Political Prisoners, issued a statement today, March 1st.

According to the statistics released by AAP, the majority of those who died during the military arrests were from Sagaing Province.

The fact that being killed after being arrested was either by the soldiers of the military council or by ignoring the standards for the treatment of prisoners after they are arrested by various methods, whether by the groups under the military coup, and the arrested person is most likely to be killed.

After the coup in the country, there have been cases of deaths in interrogation centres after being arrested by the military council and their families were forced to exhume their bodies within hours.

In addition, those leading the ground strike against the military council and some of the members and some of the young urban guerrillas were arrested by the army and lost contact with their families.

There are nearly 20,000 people who have been arrested since the military coup, and more than 16,000 of them are facing trial in prisons and have been sentenced to prison terms.
