Military Junta's Central Command in Mandalay's Royal Palace Hit by 107mm Rockets; Significant Damage Reported

Today, September 3, at around 4:00 a.m., the Shadow Mandalay group, under the direction of Brave Warriors for Myanmar (BWM), launched ten 107mm rockets at the Central Military Command (La-Pa-Kha) headquarters located within Mandalay's Royal Palace. Seven of the rockets reportedly hit their targets.

The Central Military Command is one of the two key command headquarters directing the junta's counterattacks against Shan-Mandalay Operation, the second wave of Operation 1027. The revolutionary forces have already overrun one of these two commands, the Northeastern Regional Command (Ya-Ma-Kha), headquartered in Lashio, northern Shan State.

As part of their contribution to the Shan-Mandalay Operation, BWM and allied groups targeted the Central Military Command with rocket strikes. This was BWM's second attack on this command center, with the first mission carried out in December 2023.

During the rocket attack on La-Pa-Kha headquarters, junta forces retaliated with artillery shelling, causing damage to civilian homes. According to another revolutionary source, 18 junta personnel, including a colonel who is the personnel security officer to the junta's second-in-command and 3 other officers, were injured in the attack. It is reported that four of the injured are in critical condition. The junta's second-in-command reportedly returned to Naypyidaw via helicopter. Efforts are ongoing to verify this information.

BWM has previously conducted multiple rocket strikes, including two on Ayela Air Force Base in Naypyidaw, three on Taungoo Air Force Base, and one on Tada-U Air Force Base. BWM has announced that it will intensify its efforts until the military junta is completely overthrown.
