NUG Human Rights Minister Criticizes Delayed UN Actions on Myanmar Crisis

U Aung Myo Min, the National Unity Government’s (NUG) Human Rights Minister, expressed concerns over the UN's delayed response to the Myanmar crisis, urging the international community to take swift and effective action against the Myanmar military.


Speaking at the “Action Day for Burma/Myanmar” event in New York on October 30, Minister U Aung Myo Min emphasized the need for immediate measures to address the military's human rights abuses.


The event was attended by distinguished individuals, including Tom Andrews, the UN Special Rapporteur for Human Rights in Myanmar; Dr. Sasa, the NUG International Cooperation Minister; U Moe Zaw Oo, the Deputy Foreign Minister; and U Kyaw Moe Tun, the Myanmar Ambassador to the UN. Representatives from civil society, such as Ma Wai Wai Nu of the Women’s Peace Network and Gum San N Sang of the Kachin Alliance, also participated. The discussions emphasized the significance of cooperation in establishing a future federal union and attaining justice for Myanmar.
