The 47th Salai Tin Maung Oo Commemoration Day ceremony

The Acting President of the National Unity Government and the Union Prime Minister attended the celebration of Salai Tin Maung Oo and delivered a speech.

Today, at the 47th Salai Tin Maung Oo Commemoration Day ceremony, the National Unity Government, Acting President, and Union Prime Minister attended and delivered a speech.


National Unity Government Acting President Duwa Lashi La said, "Salai Tin Maung Oo has fallen physically, but Salai Tin Maung Oo's belief and stance have not died. Although he was young, Salai Tin Maung Oo clearly showed his position so that the entire Myanmar nation could get out from under the boots of the military. I would like to urge us to remember these things and respect the clear stance of Salai Tin Maung Oo."

On June 26, 1976, student leader Salai Tin Maung Oo was brutally hanged by a group of military dictators because of his defiance against the military dictatorship.


Union Prime Minister Man Win Khaing Than said, "The fear of the military dictator is scary for ordinary people. However, if we do not overcome these fears, the fact that justice and freedom may be lost from generation to generation is even more terrifying."

Without justice and freedom, there can never be true security, peace, and people's right to self-determination. Therefore, we must remove the fear created by the military dictators with collective strength," he said.
