The matriculation examination passing percentage became the highest in history
The military council released the result list for the 2022-23 school year matriculation examination today.
Out of 16,1850 students who took the matriculation examination, 108,951 were successful, with a passing rate of 67.87 percent, according to the Ministry of Education under the Military Council.
This is the highest passing rate in the history of Myanmar's matriculation examination. During the past ten years, the matriculation examination pass rate was only around 30% every year.
Since the 2021-2022 matriculation exam was held for the first time by the military council, the pass percentage has reached 46 percent, the highest in the last decade, and this year, the pass rate has doubled from before the seizure of power.
After the coup d'état, attendance at the military council's schools decreased as well as the number of people who took the matriculation examination, but the passing percentage increased rapidly.
According to the annual matriculation exam pass rate, 32.82 % in 2017-2018, 31.44 % in 2018-2019, 32.06 % in 2019-2020, and 46.88 % percent in 2021-2022.
Another peculiarity of this year's matriculation examination result list is that those who got the highest marks nationwide were those who attended private schools and those who entered from outside.
