The Way, movie by Singer Lin Lin, created with a mobile phone, won three awards.
Singer Lin Lin's The Way movie won Best First Time Director (Feature) and Best Song, including the Best Musical Film award at the Festigious International Film Competition.
The movie was made by artists who crossed the international border and took refuge in Thailand due to the arrest of the military junta in a country active in the fighting for democracy.
The Festigious International Film Competition presents monthly awards to promote indie films and gender equality films.
THE WAY also won three awards at World Film Carnival Singapore, another international film festival.
Ma Chit Thu Wai wrote on her personal Facebook page that “The Way”, which is a musical film, had won three awards including the Best Musical Film Award, the Best First Director Award and the Best Song Award.
They said that they were indeed happy to have won such a national film award, even though they had to try and shoot this film with a mobile phone despite the lack of equipment and many difficulties.
Singers Lin Lin and Chit Thu Wai were wanted by the military junta because they opposed the military coup, and their homes were also illegally sealed off under the Terrorism Act.
