Union Prime Minister Urges International Community to Respect Myanmar People's Will

Union Prime Minister of the National Unity Government (NUG), Mann Win Khaing Than, called on the international community and neighboring countries to respect the strong will of the Myanmar people in efforts to resolve the ongoing crisis. His remarks were made during a Cabinet meeting on August 3, where he emphasized the importance of respecting the people's strong will to end authoritarianism and establish a federal democratic union that ensures democracy, national equality, and self-determination.

Addressing China's stance on the situation in Myanmar, the Prime Minister noted that the people are united in their belief that they must eliminate dictatorship to build a future that guarantees these fundamental rights. He expressed gratitude towards all nations showing interest in resolving the Myanmar issue and underscored the necessity of collaborating with revolutionary forces that genuinely represent the people to find a mutually acceptable solution.

The Prime Minister also urged the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to engage with neighboring countries and the international community, emphasizing the need to respect Myanmar's sovereignty and help address Myanmar's issues. He highlighted the belief that the country could be rebuilt through coordination and negotiation with ethnic groups nationwide after the revolution.

On August 29, a letter surfaced in Ruili City, China, calling for an immediate ceasefire with the Ta'ang National Liberation Army (TNLA) in the name of national security. This letter has sparked criticism among the Myanmar public, who view it as a sign of potential external interference by China in Myanmar's internal affairs.
