The United Nations denied any involvement in the military council's plan to repatriate the Rohingya

UN spokesperson, Stéphane Dujarric, said at a press conference today that the UN has no involvement in the pilot project being carried out by the Myanmar Military Council for the return of the Rohingya.

This was in response to the leaking of internal emails that the UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) was involved in the project of the military council. xHe also said that the current situation in Rakhine State is not yet a situation where refugees can safely return to the country in the long term.

Every refugee must have the right to return to their own country. He also said that no refugee should be forced to return.

The Myanmar Accountability Project, based in London, released yesterday the communications of UNHCR Myanmar's resident representative regarding the military council project.

As the first project of the military council, they are trying to bring about a thousand Rohingya back home. For this reason, representatives of the military council visited refugee camps in Bangladesh earlier this week.

The MAP group said that the UN officials provided assistance to the military council team.
